Homecoming Hair Styles
Whenever you use hot appliances such as a blow dryer, curling iron or flat iron, it is highly recommended that you apply a heat protectant to the hair to prevent any hair damage.
Add all over curls by using a medium to large barrel curling iron. If you are skilled, you can use a flat iron to create the curls.

Get your hairstyle ready for fall
The condition of your hair can make or break your hairstyle. Frizzy, dry hair can make any style look ragged and old. If you want to spruce up your hairstyle, the best place to start is with conditioning.
There are many different deep conditioners on the market today that can repair and return your hair to a healthy state after only one or two treatments. A key component of any deep conditioner is that it be left on the hair for up to 30 minutes. Applying a warm towel around your hair with the conditioner applied can help the conditioner to work to its fullest potential.

Important features of a flat iron
The flat iron is an essential tool if you want to achieve extra smooth, shiny hairstyles. There are many different kinds of flat irons, along with many different prices. The difference in prices is attributable to the composition of the iron and the quality of the heating plate.
Recently, I reviewed a ceramic flat iron- the Hana Elite from Hana Salon. Find out how this flat iron compares to other types of flat irons and the results I achieved with my thick, frizzy mess of hair. See Ceramic Flat Iron Review

Finding the right hairstyle
Finding the right hairstyle can take a bit of trial and error. Hairstyles are not designed as a one size fits all. They must be tailored to your face shape, hair type and texture. What works for someone with thick and coarse hair will not work the same for someone with thin or thinning hair.
The first place to start with finding the right hairstyle is your face shape. To find out what your face shape is, pull all the hair off of your face. Stand in front of a mirror and trace the outline of your face with a erasable marker or bar of soap. Stand back and look at the shape you have drawn. What shape does it most closely resemble?
There are five basic face shapes: Oval, round, square, heart and oblong. Most women will have a face shape that is a combination of two or more shapes. For example, you might have a heart shape on top, but more of an oval shape on the bottom part of your face.
Stay tuned for what to do now that you know your face shape.

Sarah Harding Medium Layered Haircut
Sarah has parted her hair deep on one side, draping the hair gently across the forehead. The hair appears as side swept bangs/
Create a piecey look for this hairstyle by adding small amounts of pomade or wax to the the ends of the hair. Be careful that you do not apply too much pomade as this can make the hair appear greasy.

How to get rid of summer frizzies
During the summer there can be high temperatures and humidity. Humidity can create havoc with hair that is prone to the frizzies. Today there are many different ways that you can reduce the amount of frizz in your hair and even prevent it.
1. Use products with silicone. Silicone helps to coat and seal the cuticle thus eliminating any frizz. There are straightening creams, serums, and sprays that can be used before styling and after.
2. Blow dry hair with nozzle pointed down the hair shaft. When blow drying the hair make sure that the blow dryer is pointed downward along the hair shaft and cuticle. If you blow dry the hair with the dryer pointed upwards, it will disrupt the cuticle of the hair and cause frizziness.
3. Use a deep conditioner. Well conditioned hair is less likely to turn frizzy. Condition your hair every time you shower and use a deep conditioner at least once a month. The deep conditioner needs to be left on the hair for at least 30 minutes to be effective.
4. Drink plenty of water. The more hydrated your body is, the more hydrated your hair will be.
5. Avoid excess chemical treatments. The more you damage your hair with chemical treatments, the more prone it will be to frizziness. Try to extend the time between treatments or avoid them all together.
